Arledge, Jane 10 Recommendations

Professor Arledge is amazing! She makes calculus bearable, even if you hate math like I do. There's two quest homeworks and two bookwork assignments per week but they were never ridiculously long. The two midterms weren't too difficult if you study and practice a lot of problems, and the final was very similar to the two midterms. Her TA, Gil, was also really great. Going to the TA sessions are definitely worth it, especially when you don't understand something. She has a stack of notecards and calls on people for the answers during class, but it's ok if you don't know the answer. She tells you on the last day of class that the notecards don't actually count for anything. So you don't technically have to go to class but I would highly recommend it

Dr. Arledge is very explicit and articulate in her lectures and makes the information very understandable. She always pauses to ask if anyone has questions and has great example questions that she does on the board in class that are representative of test material. Her TA for 408N this semester was Gil Moss and he was fabulous. He is also clear and very helpful (and approachable). The exams are fair and compose 90% of your grade (worth 30% each). Online Quest homework is worth 5% and written homework is worth 5%. There are something like 20 homework and Quest assignments each and the 5 lowest are dropped from each. The final exam of the 3 is cumulative.
